Maya Kompella

Maya studied biomedical engineering with a minor in creative writing and a premedical concentration at Northwestern University. She has previously worked with students in the K-12 setting as well as at the undergraduate level. Maya spent her post-graduation year serving through AmeriCorps as a teaching assistant in a 7th and 8th grade math classroom and has experience in one-on-one and small group tutoring. Her goal is to make sure that students understand the fundamentals of the subjects they may be struggling with and build up from there, to ensure that all learning comes from a place of true comprehension. Maya also places a focus on creating strong relationships with her students to allow for open communication and self-advocacy. Maya hopes to use education as a tool to create change at the community level through the power and creativity of our youth.
