Keep students engaged and moving forward as learners

We partner with schools and youth organizations to offer customized programs in executive functioning and study skills, writing, and college readiness as well as test preparation and academic tutoring. Whether you’re interested in preparing for the next grade, filling in gaps, or just trying to head off learning loss during breaks in the academic calendar, EE can help.

Learners’ Workshops

The Learners’ Workshop focuses on the character traits, learning strategies, and academic habits needed for success in high school, college, and beyond. The lessons can be delivered as intensive one- to two-week programs, summer bridge courses, freshman orientations, or weekly “specials” over a semester. We’ll work with your organization to identify which topics and lessons are your top priority and draw on our extensive curriculum to tailor a workshop that meets the goals of your students.

Instructional methods include experiential learning activities, lectures, multimedia presentations, and short projects to encourage more efficient and successful learning. Students will receive a binder with accompanying worksheets, planner pages, and EE’s habits and strategies mini-textbook. Participants assess their current skills, build new ones, and leave the workshop with a game plan for their academic future.

Topics include…

  • Organization

  • Note taking

  • Goal setting

  • Time management

  • Annotation

  • Self-advocacy

  • Mono-tasking

  • Growth mindset and more

Educational Endeavors staff can lead the course at your location or remotely. Or if you prefer, we can train your team members to deliver the program themselves. Ultimately, the goal of all EE workshops is to help students commit to putting all their habits and strategies into practice — and sticking with success.

Writer’s Practice Independent Study

The proliferation of AI writing programs may have students asking themselves, “Why bother learning how to write?” Banning technology is not the answer, nor is teaching students to write like robots. Instead, the Writer’s Practice Independent Study cultivates authentic motivation and interest by opening students’ eyes to the world that writers inhabit — one where they consider their audience, work through a process, develop writerly habits, and choose topics they’re passionate about.

With their registration students will receive the following:

  • Eight weekly one-hour sessions with a private writing instructor, online or in person where available.
  • A copy of the book The Writer’s Practice: Building Confidence in Your Nonfiction Writing by John Warner.
  • Instruction on key concepts from the book including audience awareness, rhetorical analysis, the writing process, habits of mind, choosing the “right” word, the importance of titles, and more.
  • Weekly reading and writing assignments to be completed independently between sessions.
  • Coaching to develop a polished piece of writing that will be published on the EE student blog, Ignite.
  • Thirty minutes’ worth of asynchronous written feedback from the instructor on the student’s work in progress each week.
  • The opportunity to continue with the instructor for writing tutoring after the 8-week program is complete. We can provide a quote for the tutor’s hourly rate.

Students build their confidence by practicing writing at every session. And their enjoyment for writing increases as students explore high-interest topics and write for an authentic audience. By brainstorming, drafting, revising, and editing their culminating project for the Ignite blog, students learn valuable skills that will help them with any school writing assignment.

This program is appropriate for students from middle school through college. Register for the Writer’s Practice Independent Study and your student will be matched with a tutor to begin their writing journey.

Schedule Options:

We’ll work with you to determine a schedule for eight one-hour sessions with a private instructor.

College Success Seminar

The transition to college can be difficult as young adults step into a world where no one oversees homework or breaks down assignments into manageable chunks. EE’s College Success Seminar will help familiarize students with the expectations of college and introduce them to a wide array of skills that will prepare them for the next stage of their education. If students have learned self-advocacy, organization, time management, and other executive functioning strategies before they arrive on campus, they are more likely to survive and thrive during freshman year.

The seminar can be delivered as an intensive course over a few days, or offered at various times during the school year or summer. Educational Endeavors staff can lead the course at your location or remotely. We’ll work with your organization to identify which topics and lessons are your top priority and tailor a workshop that meets the goals of your students.
