Ali holds a PhD in education: literacy, language & culture at the University of Illinois at Chicago. She has formerly taught language arts, ELL, and other subjects in middle and high school. She worked as a research assistant with Early Reading First at UIC, building family literacy supports throughout Chicago. Her research interests include literacy practices and literacy use of unaccompanied, undocumented immigrants. She is proficient in Spanish and tutors all subjects, but specializes in writing, literacy and ELL.
