Francisco Restrepo
A graduate student in the physics department at the University of Illinois at Chicago, Francisco’s PhD project is aimed at elucidating the physical mechanism behind high-temperature superconductivity. Since 2009, he has taught various undergraduate physics courses ranging from 100-level Mechanics and Electromagnetism to Physics for the Life Sciences (a novel course which he also helped develop). Prior to that he had experience tutoring high school algebra and calculus. Francisco has always found teaching fulfilling, especially the experience of helping students make the passage from confusion to clarity. He believes in monitoring students’ progress throughout a lesson, establishing concepts before solving problems, and inviting students to ask any question that will aid their understanding. Originally from Colombia, Francisco is a native Spanish speaker and can tutor Spanish in addition to his specialties: physics and math.
